The context
A plant running three shifts that needed more storage space without stopping the lines. The new volume had to connect to the existing one, which meant demolishing part of a fire compartment wall and rebuilding the section of roof where the two meet.
The work
Excavation and foundations, precast reinforced concrete structure, industrial flooring with a quartz finish, roofing with north-light rooflights, and a complete electrical installation covering lighting and power. Fire safety upgrade of the compartment created by joining the two volumes.
Running the site
Work touching the existing building was concentrated into scheduled maintenance shutdowns. The site area was separated from company vehicle routes by continuous hoarding and a dedicated haul route.
